The results of a goods day spent 'messin around, on & in boats

The result of a good day 'messin around, on & in boats.  Our CB is pretty nifty shape, thanks to all the members who are getting a little tired of looking at that big sheet of ice on the lake.

2008 Jr. Learn -To-Sail program is announced.  Click here for details

Happy New Year
Warning Signal for the first race of 2008 will be May 21st at 1900 hrs.

The date of our Annual General Meeting has been changed!

It will be held one week earlier, on Oct 20.  Business meeting at 4:00 PM, banquet, awards & social to follow.

Our "Learn to Sail, Race & Crew" course and our "Jr Learn to Sail" course were both tremendously well accepted.  Several new members have joined the club, and are now crewing for our boats.  Both of the Jr. LTS courses were oversubscribed and there were 30+ participants in the LTRSC course. It was a very worthwhile experience for them (& us!!).  Here is the article from the Sylvan Lake News. LTSRC

Big, Huge "Thank You's" to Joan Moore & her able assistants for the LTS course & Graeme Strathdee for the LTRSC course.  It was very good stuff!

The "Advocate"  (Hey...one of our sponsors) also did an article on our Wed. Night racing.  Unfortunately, I don't have a link for it, so if you are reading this, (Ruby Tuesday), send me the link & I'll post it. here

The Sylvan Lake Sailing Club is the host to 2 of Alberta's best keelboat regatta's, The Summer Solstice from June 15 - 17 and the End-of-Summer-Hummer from Sept 7 - 9, 2007.

Our club races keelboats in the 20 - 27 ft range Santana 20 & 23's, Martin 242's, S2 7.9's, J-24 & 80 etc...  75 - 100 sailors compete in our Wednesday Night Races, starting May 23 till Sept. 5.  Many weekend events round out our racing schedule.

If you would like to try your hand at sail boat racing, come down to the docks at Marina Bay by 6:00 PM any Wednesday.  We're always looking for crews.  Previous experience not necessary.  We have never left anyone on the dock yet, so be prepared for some great fun.
